Trevor Noel Reynoso was taken into custody and charged with several felonies related to sexually assaulting a teenage girl . According to the Lake County Sheriff’s office, the mother of a 15-year-old girl contacted them on Tuesday to report that her daughter was repeatedly sexually assaulted by 31-year-old Reynoso.
When Lt. Corey Paulich spoke to the teen she stated that she met the accused in February through a social media app. The accused had identified himself as ‘Chase’ and had told her that he was 21 years old.
Since February the teen and the accused had sex on multiple occasions. According to the victim’s statement, the accused would offer various drugs and narcotics in return for sex.
To catch Reynoso red-handed, the deputy made the teenager contact him on the social media app and asked him to meet her at a business in the Middletown area. Reynoso agreed to meet the girl and was waiting in his parked vehicle when Paulich approached him and asked for identification. The accused gave a false name and denied any knowledge of the victim or waiting there to meet her.
The girl identified Reynoso as the person who had sexually assaulted her on numerous occasions. Reynoso eventually admitted knowing the victim but defended himself by saying that he thought she was 18.
On further investigation, it was discovered that Reynoso had a felony warrant in Texas for possession of child pornography. The Lake County Jail booked Reynoso on his Texas warrant and charges of lewd acts with a child, unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, meeting a minor for purposes of sex, oral copulation, soliciting prostitution from a minor, providing false identification and supplying controlled substance.
California Child Sex Abuse
Child sexual abuse is one of the most horrendous crimes thinkable. Unfortunately, these dreadful crimes happen too frequently. California has reported a high number of child sexual abuse cases over the years.
In 2015, more than 42,000 child sexual abuse cases were reported alone in the state of California.
As per the figures provided by a non-profit organization Darkness to Light:
• 9 out of 10 children who are victims of sexual abuse know their abuser.
• 1 out of 7 cases of sexual abuse occurs on a school day.
• 20% of child sexual assault cases involve victims under the age of 8.
• Only 38% of children come out and open up that they were sexually abused.
• 44% of the total rape victims are minor children.
The poor vulnerable kids can get some justice when sexual predators are convicted and sent to prison by the court, but the conviction cannot help erase the trauma suffered by the victims and their family.
Civil Lawsuit for Child Sexual Abuse
A civil lawsuit helps determine the guilt and responsibility of the accused and addresses the impact of the incident on the victim. Most people are not aware that a civil lawsuit is independent of any criminal proceedings.
In a criminal lawsuit the district attorney is focused on prosecuting the sexual offender and punishing them. The criminal lawsuit, does very little to protect the victim’s civil claims. A civil lawsuit helps the court to focus on the victim’s pain and suffering and to determine how to compensate them.
