Rear End Collision

Rear-end collision is an accident which happens when a car hits or collides into the rear or trunk of another car. Collisions with a tree or another vehicle from the rear, which happen when a driver is driving backwards do not fall under the category of a rear-end collision. A rear-end collision is only considered when the front end of one car collides into the back end of another car. Depending on how the crash happens, a rear end collision may result in serious damages to the vehicle and life or may have negligible impact.

Khashan Law firm has been actively working on cases to help victims of rear-end collisions. We are a strong believer of the fact that if you were not responsible for the accident, then you should not suffer for the same.

INSTANCES OF REAR-END COLLISIONS:

A rear-end collision can occur under a number of situations. Hence while driving one needs to keep an eye and concentrate on both the cars driving ahead of you or at your rear.

  • Sudden stopping of the vehicle ahead due to traffic jam or some incident on the road, may not give the driver of the car behind to stop in time before ramming into the rear of the car ahead.
  • Under instances of tailgating, the driver may ram into the rear of an unwary driver ahead.
  • In some instances a driver may accelerate the car even when the car ahead has still not moved and is standing.
COMMON CAUSES OF REAR END COLLISIONS:
  • Speeding above limit
  • Distracted while driving because of using phones or other electronic devices
  • Leaving less or insufficient space between 2 cars while driving. It is commonly referred to as leaving the required “space cushion” between 2 vehicles while driving
  • Trying to jump the signal, even when the vehicle ahead is not in motion
  • Natural weather conditions like rains or snow, which can affect the visibility or make it difficult to control the vehicle while driving
DETERMINING THE LIABILITY:

If you have been a victim of a rear end collision and have suffered losses, to recover compensation, it is very important that you are able to prove that the accident was because of the fault of the other driver. You can prove this using the police report copy, get witnesses to testify, keep records of medical and other expenses. It is advisable that file for compensation against the insurance company of the driver at fault as soon as possible.

We at Khashan Law Firm can help you right from investigating the cause of the accident to calculating the damages occurred and finally filing your claim for compensation. We can also negotiate on behalf of the victim with an insurance adjuster and review all the settlement offers received, and help you get the rightful compensation.
