What do you mean by a Crush Injury?
In simple words a crush injury occurs occurs when a person’s body or some part of the body literally gets crushed under any foreign object. The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) mentions that a crush injury occurs in instances when the body is compressed by a foreign object. They have also noted in their observations that crush injury cases involve a victim’s extremities. In over 75 percent of the crush injury cases, the victim’s legs or feet are affected by the crush whereas around 15 percent cases affect the arms or hands of the victim. A small percentage affect the trunk area. However these crush injuries to the trunk can be truly catastrophic and may be in few cases fatal too.
