California boasts of winding roads and breathtaking views. Motorcyclists enjoy riding on scenic roads. Unfortunately with the beautiful surroundings, there are a lot of risks involved while riding in California. 17% of the road fatalities in the state are represented by motorcycle accident deaths. More than 88,000 motorcyclists are injured every year in the United States.

Fatalities in motorcycle accidents are 26% more likely to occur as compared to passenger car occupant fatalities in accidents.

Some of the most common reasons for motorcycle accidents are:

• Inexperienced and young motorcycle riders
• Speeding
• Riding under influence of alcohol and/or drugs
• Chatting or talking on a cell phone while riding
• Eating or drinking while riding
• Tailgating
• Lane cutting or splitting
• Poor weather and road conditions
• Not using protective gear like helmet, leather clothing etc.

In most motorcycle accidents, the motorcycle experiences high impact on the front which results in traumatic and fatal injuries. Motorcycle crashes result in physical and emotional pain leading to huge medical bills, lost wages and property damage.

California is one of the few states that permit lane splitting allowing motorcycle riders to drive along the lane dividers when traffic is slow or not moving. Unfortunately, many drivers may not be aware of this, leading to direct injury or death.

To determine the guilty party in an accident the factors and situation in which an accident occurred need to be identified. The degree of fault in each party helps determine the financial responsibility. Identifying and determining the at-fault parties can be complex, there are high chances that the involved parties will not agree to a common resolution.

The situation may become worse if the accident was a result of equipment failure or poor road conditions or because of crashing with public vehicles or obstacles. Hiring an experienced motorcycle accident lawyer in such circumstances helps to handle the complicating factors.
